Helping Gators Go Green

recycle

Swift Creek Elementary School participates in TerraCycle’s Juice Pouch Brigade and Lays Chip bag Brigade Programs. The school earns 2 cents for every juice pouch and chip bag the school ships to TerraCycle (shipping costs are covered by TerraCycle). TerraCycle turns these juice pouches and bags into backpacks and other neat school supplies. This past year we collected over 4,800 chip bags and 6,700 juice pouches.

In order to make this program successful, volunteers are needed! Please sign up online to help. Email Pam with any questions.

Ancient Civilization Day

ancient

Ancient Civilization day is a huge 3rdgrade tradition at SCES! It is a full day event highlighting the SOL information for the ancient civilizations of Egypt, China, Greece, Rome and Mali. The day is packed full of fun learning activities, crafts, games, and lots of wonderful food! The children, teachers, and even many of the volunteers wear costumes representing one of the five countries. The one-day event takes much planning and lots of volunteers to be successful!

Third grade parents and families who would like to join the fun can sign up online to help. If you have questions feel free to email.

Yearbook Cover Artists Winners

contest

Each year our 5th graders have the opportunity to enter our yearbook cover contest. We are pleased to show you the fabulous artwork that was chosen for our 2012 “Super Gators” yearbook front and back cover! (Click on the images to see them larger)

Our front cover was drawn by Ashley Bann. Her design was used to help create the comic books themed cover seen here and that will carry on through the book.

2012 Yearbook Front Cover

Our back cover was drawn by Alaina Jencik. Her design was used to help create a very important reminder to all of our Super Gators to “Dream Big!”

2012 Yearbook Back Cover

Congratulations to each of the winners and thank you to everyone who submitted art for all your hard work!
